| The symbols also lend a hint as to which market they are trading on as all NASDAQ securities are registered with at least 4 characters and securities trading on the New York and American exchanges, (markets), will have three or less characters for their symbols. |
As an example of how the symbol may not appear as you would think, the registered trading symbol for Coca-Cola is KO. |
